Your computer allows separate accounts for several users. This requires each user to create a user name linked to his or her specific account. The feature provides benefits in several areas including security, computer customization and parental controls. Changing your user name in a Windows environment is a simple task.
Start Menu Style in Category View
Step 1
Click "Start" on the taskbar. Click "Control Panel" and select "User Accounts."

Click "Change an Account" in the "User Accounts" window.

Click your account in the "User Accounts" window. Click "Change My Name."

Type the name you would like to use in the "Type a new name for YOUR NAME" box. Click the "Change Name" button to save your changes.

Click "Start" on the taskbar. Point to "Settings" and then click "Control Panel." Double click "User Accounts."

Click "Change an Account" in the "User Accounts" window.

Click your account in the "User Accounts" window. Click "Change My Name."

Type the name you would like to use in the "Type a new name for YOUR NAME" box. Click the "Change Name" button to save your changes.
