Your email account is more than just a repository for old letters. Depending on how you use it, it may contain information such as passwords for bill payment accounts, credit card statements and other personal transactions. Forgetting your password doesn't mean that you have to lose access to this information; if you can remember the personal information included on your account, you can usually retrieve or change the password and regain access to your email.
Step 1
Reset your Gmail password. Click "Can't access your account?" and select "I forgot my password." Click the link to the password recovery page and follow the prompts to reset your Gmail password. If you no longer have access to your alternate email address, you will need to wait 24 hours since your last login attempt to reset your password.
