The Dynex DX-32L151A11 is a 32-inch flat-screen LCD TV. The TV is capable of producing 720p high-definition images and comes with a variety of inputs for extra attachments such as DVD players, video-game systems and even speakers. You may not be satisfied with the stock speakers on the TV, but luckily there are three separate options for hooking up external speakers. There's a 3.5mm port for hooking up basic computer speakers, two analog ports for hooking up analog surround systems and a digital sound port for digital sound systems. The television should be powered off and unplugged before you set up the speakers.
Computer Speakers
Step 1
Set the computer speakers in front of or somewhere near the side of your TV and plug them into a power outlet. Most computer speakers need an extraneous power source.
Video of the Day
Step 2
Find the 3.5mm headphone jack on the left side of your TV. It will have a green outline. Power on your speakers.
Step 3
Plug the 3.5mm output plug of the speakers to the 3.5mm headphone jack. Power on your television and it will treat the speakers like headphones and transmit sound through them. You may adjust the sound either on the television or on the speakers .
Analog Sound System
Step 1
Locate the red and white ports on the back of the television labeled "Audio Out."
Step 2
Plug one end of the two analog speaker cables into the corresponding "Audio Out" ports. The cable with the white head should go in the white port and the cable with the red head should go in the red port.
Step 3
Plug the other ends of the cables into the "Audio In" ports on the back of your sound system. Again, match white to white and red to red.
Step 4
Power on your sound system and television. Sound should run from the RCA cables from the TV and out the sound system's speakers.
Digital Sound
Step 1
Locate the "Digital Optical Out" port on the back of the television. You will find it to the left of the HDMI port and VGA port. It looks like a small circle with a red light inside.
Step 2
Plug one end of the digital-optical-audio cable into the digital-optical port on the back of the television. Plug the other end into the "Digital Optical In" port on the back of your digital sound system.
Step 3
Power on the television and the digital sound system and turn to a digital channel or use a digital device such as a DVD or Blu-ray player. The sound should transmit through the digital cable from the television and out the sound system's speakers. It will not transmit sound for devices that use analog signals, such as older camcorders or VCRs.
