If you haven't heard from a family member in a while or just want to check up on someone, Facebook is a convenient tool for connecting with others. Before you attempt to get in contact with someone through Facebook, however, it is often useful to know if the individual has used the account recently. This is also true if you are a parent and want to see how often your children use Facebook. Learn how to log in to Facebook and check an account for activity to see how often the owner uses it.
Step 1
Navigate to the Facebook homepage. Enter your email address and password, and then click "Log In" at the top of the page to log in to your Facebook account. Complete the fields in the sign-up form below the log-in box, and click "Sign Up" to create a Facebook account if you do not already have one.

Step 2
Search for the name of the Facebook account owner you wish to check on. Type the individual's name in the search bar at the top of the page to find him on Facebook. Results automatically appear. If the person doesn't show up in the first few results, click "See more results" at the bottom of the automatic search list to see more matches. Click a name to visit an account.
Step 3
Navigate through the Facebook account to look for recent changes that indicate activity. The Facebook Wall is the first part of a Facebook profile you see. Check if the account owner has posted any recent status updates or other content. This is most-updated section of a Facebook profile. Click the "Photos" tab on the left of the Facebook account page to look for recent photos, another sign of activity. Finally, click the "Notes" tab to see if the owner has posted any recent notes.
