How to Use the Calendar Wizard in Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word includes an integrated calendar wizard.

When Microsoft changed its Office Suite interface with the arrival of Office 2007, users noticed a complete change to the layout, including the menu replacement with tabs and a ribbon. This setup, still in place with the Suite's current 2010 version, eliminated some processes to make room for the new. If you tried to design a monthly calendar via the old "wizard" interface, you may think your magic wand is broken. Word just offers a different way to get up and running with the calendar template, no magic or wands required.

Step 1

Launch Microsoft Word. Click the "File" tab. Click "New." Double-click the "Calendars" button.

Double-click the file folder icon with the current year or the year for your calendar. For Microsoft 2010, the latest file folder shows "2012 calendars," but you'll be able to configure later-year calendars in the next steps.

Scroll through the design templates. Note that all calendars are customizable. Double-click a template, such as "2012 12-Month Basic Calendar."

Click the "Select a year to create calendar" drop-down menu and choose a year for the calendar, such as "2013."

Step 5

Click the "Sunday" or "Monday" radio button for what day the calendar should start its weeks on.

Click "OK." Click "OK" again at the "Your calendar has been successfully updated" window. After a few moments, the new calendar appears in a new Word window. If you chose a month-by-month calendar, scroll through the 12 pages in the Word document to view the calendar.
