Sharp atomic wall clocks use radio-controlled timekeeping to provide consistent and accurate timekeeping. They offer additional features such as temperature and humidity sensors. It's simple to set up and use a Sharp atomic wall clock.

Set-Up

Perform a basic set-up on the device's remote sensor and clock. The remote sensor takes the temperature and humidity readings for your atomic clock. Whether you have a clock with an indoor temperature and humidity feature or an outdoor temperature and humidity feature will determine the placement of your remote sensor unit. Both the remote sensor and clock should be in the same room, with the units set about two feet from each other. Install the batteries in the remote sensor first, then install the batteries in the clock. Both the remote sensor and clock should be set to the same channel.

Video of the Day

Press the "Test" button, then leave the units untouched for at least eight minutes while they learn to communicate for each other. If, after eight minutes, the radio-controlled timekeeping has not set the clock automatically, press the "Receive" button to tell the clock to search for the signal.

Your Sharp atomic clock will receive automatic updates twice a day at 2 a.m. and 5 p.m. These updates will also tell your Sharp atomic clock when it is time to change from standard time to daylight savings time and back. Repeat this set-up procedure each time you replace the batteries in your Sharp atomic wall clock.

Time and Date

Despite the radio-controlled timekeeping of Sharp atomic wall clocks, you may need to set the time and date manually if the automatic update fails or is interrupted. To access the settings screen on the Sharp atomic clock, hold down the "Time" or "Month/Day" buttons for three seconds, then use the up and down arrows to increase or decrease the number values to the desired time or date.

Care and Maintenance

Keep both the remote sensor and clock units clean and dry. Though the remote sensor is capable of withstanding dew and slight moisture, it should be kept out of direct moisture such as rain. If contact with rain does occur, remove the batteries and dry the unit thoroughly before replacing them. Sharp atomic wall clock systems are powered by AA batteries. For best results, the manufacturer recommends using high-quality alkaline, rather than rechargeable, batteries to power the Sharp atomic clock.
