Netgear Wireless N-Routers offer high-speed wireless connections with ranges between 2.4 gigahertz and 5GHz. However, if the device isn't properly connected to an outlet or if the device's firmware and hardware isn't performing well, the router won't power on. Wireless Netgear N-Routers are powered with an adapter. If the router won't turn on, Netgear provides solutions to maximize your N-Router's performance.
Testing the Outlet
If the LED light on the front of your Netgear Wireless N-Router isn't blinking, the power adapter is probably not connected to an electrical outlet. Before powering the device, inspect the power adapter that comes with your router. If it's not properly plugged into an outlet, connect it and then press the "Power" button. If the Power/Test LED light does not come on, use a different outlet. In some cases, a tripped circuit breaker in the home's electrical panel shuts down the outlets in a particular room. To determine whether the outlet is the problem, connect another device to it. If the device doesn't power on, the outlet is the problem so use a different one.

Power Adapter
Most Netgear Wireless N-Routers use 12V DC, 2.5A power adapters. If the adapter you're using isn't working, the device won't power up. You must purchase a replacement adapter. According to Netgear, the LED lights usually turn on for about 10 seconds before turning off. However, if they remain lit, the router's hardware or firmware is experiencing technical difficulty.
Resetting the Router
Resetting the Netgear Wireless N-Router restores the device to the factory state. This feature is designed to solve hardware problems that interfere with the device's normal operation. Before resetting the router, press the "Power" button back and forth to see if it powers on. If it doesn't, press and hold the "Reset" button on the back of the router to restore the device to the default factory settings. After resetting the device, press the "Power" button to turn it on.
Tips
If the Netgear Wireless N-Router is still not powering on, the device's firmware is most likely damaged. According to Netgear, if the Power/Test LED blinks slowly and continuously, the device's firmware must have experienced problems during an update. If the LED light is blinking and the device is not performing as it should, contact Netgear for additional troubleshooting and possible repair.
