Make the keyboard larger on your iPhone to make it easier to type.

When you need to enter text on your iPhone, a virtual keyboard will appear. For example, if you create a new email message, or tap in the search field on a website when you use the Safari browser, the QWERTY keyboard pops up. The iPhone's display measures 3.5 inches diagonally, so you might find that the keyboard is too small when you hold the phone in portrait mode. You can easily make the keyboard larger on your iPhone, which can help you type efficiently.

Step 1

Press the "Home" button twice if you see "Portrait Orientation Lock" status icon in the status bar at the top of the iPhone, which indicates that the iPhone will not display in landscape mode. The "Portrait Orientation Lock" status icon looks like a small lock inside a circular arrow.

Step 2

Flick your finger against the row of icons on the bottom of the screen from left to right to scroll until you see the "Portrait Orientation Lock" option icon, which is a circular arrow surrounding a lock. Tap the icon to disable it. The "Portrait Orientation Lock" option icon turns back into a circular arrow with no lock inside it, and the "Portrait Orientation Lock" status icon disappears from the status bar.
