"Thanks to AI and reports from the Waze community, crash history alerts combine historical crash data and key information about your route — such as its typical traffic levels, whether it's a highway or local road, elevation, and more," a Waze blog post reads. "If your route includes a crash-prone road, we'll show you an alert before you reach that section of your journey."

So, if you're en route and you're coming up on a potentially dangerous stretch of road that has caused accidents in the past, you'll receive an crash alert before you reach that part of the road. Waze notes that to minimize distractions, the number of alerts you see will be limited. The app also won't show you crash alerts on roads you regularly navigate.
